Council members
Each September members elect a Council of 12 members to direct and manage the business of the Society. The Council structure and membership for 2026-27 is:

- Secretary: Nick Swain
- Treasurer: Frances McGee
- Councillor: Peter Dowling
- Councillor: Tony Corp
- Councillor: Kay Walsh
- Councillor: Andrew Sergeant
- Councillor: Hannah Paddon
- Councillor: VACANT
Two councillors are appointed as delegates to the Federation of Australian Historical Societies committee. Currently they are Gary Kent and Nick Swain.
A number of other volunteers who are not on the council perform essential services to help keep CDHS running.
