Patrick Hore-Ruthven (1913-1942) was the son of Alexander Hore-Ruthven who was the 1st Earl of Gowrie (after whom the suburb of Gowrie is named) and Governor General of Australia (1936 to 1944). Patrick Hore-Ruthven died from wounds in 1942 and his parents built a memorial fountain at Government House, Yarralumla in his honour.
