THE PADDLE STEAMER ENTERPRISE AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AUSTRALIA
9 June 2026
The Paddle Steamer Enterprise is one of the oldest steam powered vessels afloat in the world today and one of the key objects in the collection of the NMA, where she is now moored on Lake Burley Griffin. The Enterprise was typical of the many trading boats along the Murray, Darling and Murrumbidgee Rivers, passing through the hands of many riverboat families to survive today.
David Wardle, a volunteer crew member on the Enterprise, will outline a history of the rivertrade and the role played by the enterprise.
