Summary
The Great White Train arrived in Canberra about 1.30pm on Friday 22 October 1926. It stayed near the Canberra Railway Station until 11:30pm the following night, when it moved on to Queanbeyan, where it remained until the following Wednesday. The train was created in the early twenties by the Australian Made Preference League, a group of Sydney and other New South Wales based industrialists wishing to convince Australians to buy Australian-made goods. League members displayed their Australian-made products in the train's fifteen exhibition carriages.
