- Murray arrived in Canberra in 1909 with his family and was working at RMC, Duntroon, at the outbreak of World War 1. He served in the 1st Field Company Engineers, earned the Military Medal with a bar, and after the war obtained a soldier settlers block he called Kurrumbene (where Narrabundah is today). He died in 1935 and is buried at St John's in Reid.
