- Clabon Walter Allen (1904-1987) was appointed to a research fellowship at the newly established Commonwealth Solar Observatory at Mount Stromlo in 1926 and worked there until 1951 when he accepted an appointment in England. He returned to Canberra in 1972 where he died in 1987.
- Notes
- In 1922 Allen began the first of 25 volumes of a diary to improve what he regarded as his poor English expression. The diaries are held by the National Library of Australia. The C.W. Allen collection at the CDHS is a photocopy of Volume 5 of his diaries covering the period 19 July 1926 to 1 July 1928.
