Summary
Admiral William Cresswell was a graduate of the Royal Navy's College, Britannia, but later migrated to Australia, joining the South Australian naval forces in 1885. In 1904 he was appointed Naval Officer Commanding the Commonwealth Naval Forces. This presentation focuses on his efforts to establish a naval college, initially at Geelong and subsequently at Jervis Bay, NSW. Talk delivered on 8 April 1986.
